Caretakers is a visual examination of my relationship to the natural world and the place we allow nature to occupy in our western culture. Caretakers raises questions about reality, the metaphysical, and interdependence by implying different philosophical ideas, exploiting various photographic techniques and expanding the genre of landscape photography.
The images of each diptych formulate a relationship of the figures to the land. The landscape images void of figures stir our memory of a time before an all-encompassing human interference into the natural world. The figures in (or rather in front) of the landscape in the second images are caught in a moment where they are just about to act out what they intended to do.
