Tide is a series of images examining human presence in various locales. It is a play on the space-time continuum, reflecting the ebb and flow of people through specific locations. Photography's capacity to depict a singular moment in time is extended within this series, by layering a series of porous images from various instances in time into coherent new compositions. This technique allows past, present and future moments to appear simultaneously, reflecting the notion that each moment in time is a fabrication of our memories, our presence and our projections. This instantaneous perception of different moments collapses and unites the linear, sequential character of time. |
